En graft är en mycket liten enhet som består av 1–4 hårstrån från samma hårsäck. Varje graft är ofta mindre än 1 mm och fungerar som en naturlig byggsten i en hårtransplantation. Tack vare deras litenhet läker huden snabbt, och när graftsen placeras noggrant skapas en naturlig täthet i hår, skägg, ögonbryn eller ärr.
Donationsområdet är det område där hårsäckarna hämtas, oftast bak eller på sidorna av huvudet. Här växer håret naturligt starkt och påverkas sällan av ärftligt håravfall. De hårsäckar som tas härifrån kallas donationshår, och de fortsätter att växa även efter att de flyttats till ett nytt område.
Mottagarområdet är platsen som ska fyllas med hår. Det kan vara hårlinjen, tinningarna, kronan, hjässan, skägget, ögonbrynen eller över ett ärr. Här placeras varje graft noggrant så att håret växer i rätt riktning och smälter in naturligt med ditt befintliga hår.

Vid DHI sätts hårsäckarna in direkt, utan att små öppningar i huden behöver göras. Metoden ger mycket hög kontroll över vinkel och täthet vid mindre ytor som hårlinjer, skägg och ögonbryn. DHI kräver inte att området rakas inför behandling. Det gör metoden särskilt populär för personer som vill ha en så diskret behandling som möjligt.

Written instructions a few days before, avoid blood thinners, alcohol and nicotine. No special shaving requirement — the donor area is small (neck or temples) and is covered by your hair.
