Microneedling vs laser, which suits your skin?
Microneedling and laser are used for similar skin concerns but work completely differently. Here we compare the methods so you can choose the right one for your skin.

Microneedling and laser are two of the most popular treatments for improving the skin's texture, evening out scars and rejuvenating the skin. They aim for similar results but work in completely different ways, and suit different people.
We specialise in microneedling and PRP. If we judge that laser suits you better, we say so honestly. At a free consultation we look at your skin and recommend the right path.
Microneedling, mechanical collagen stimulation
Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. This triggers the body's own healing and new production of collagen and elastin. Because the method adds no heat, it suits most skin types, including darker skin, and has relatively short recovery (redness for a couple of days). It is often combined with PRP for an enhanced effect.
Laser, light and heat
Laser treatments use light energy converted into heat in the skin. Fractional laser can give powerful renewal and results per treatment, but with longer healing, more restrictions (sun, certain skin types) and a higher risk of side effects such as pigment changes, especially on darker skin tones.
Which suits you?
- Want a gentle method with short downtime that suits most skin types: microneedling.
- Have strong scars or sun damage and can tolerate more downtime: laser can do more per session.
- Have darker skin: microneedling is often safer.
