How to choose a reputable hair clinic, a checklist
Choosing a hair clinic is one of the most important decisions in the whole process, more important than the choice of technique. A good result is permanent, but so is a bad one. Here is a checklist to go through before you decide, whatever clinic you choose.
In Sweden, healthcare providers performing hair transplants should be registered with IVO (the Health and Social Care Inspectorate). It is a fundamental safeguard, check that the clinic is listed.
Ask directly: is it a doctor or technician who does the treatment, and how experienced are they? At some clinics, especially abroad, technicians perform a large part of the work on an assembly-line basis. You have the right to know.
A reputable clinic has patient insurance and a clear plan for what happens if a complication arises. Ask what applies if problems occur during the healing year.
Watch out for "from" prices that jump up at the consultation. Ask for a binding fixed price and what is included (anaesthesia, medication, PRP, follow-up).
A transplant heals over a full year. In-person follow-up, someone to contact and documentation of the result are central, something that is difficult with treatment far away.
Be wary of pressure selling, "offer that expires today", guaranteed results (impossible to promise) and clinics that only show perfect images without mentioning risks and realistic expectations.

Frequently asked questions about trust
How do I know a hair clinic is reputable?
Check that the clinic is registered with IVO (the Swedish health inspectorate), that licensed staff perform the procedure, that they have patient insurance, transparent fixed prices and in-person follow-up. Be wary of pressure selling and guaranteed results, results can never be guaranteed.
Which questions should I ask?
Who performs the procedure (doctor or technician)? What is included in the price? What does the follow-up look like? What happens with complications? Can I meet the clinic in person first? Reputable clinics answer gladly and clearly.
Is cheapest best?
Rarely. For a permanent procedure that affects your appearance, it is the whole, competence, safety, follow-up and accountability, that counts. A low price without follow-up can be expensive if something goes wrong.
