Scars from injury or surgery

Scars after injuries, burns or surgery can be softened and made less visible with microneedling and PRP, once the scar has matured.

    Free consultation

We assess your skin and goals and suggest a plan that suits you.

  2. 2

    The treatment

Microneedling, PRP or a combination, tailored to your skin.

  3. 3

    Your skin's own healing

The treatment stimulates your skin's own healing and collagen formation.

  4. 4

    Results over a series

The effect builds gradually over several treatments and maintenance.

Scars after injuries, burns or surgery affect not only how the skin looks, but can also feel tight and have a different texture from the surrounding skin. Microneedling and PRP can help soften and even out such scars.

By creating controlled micro-channels in the scar tissue, a new healing process is stimulated where the collagen is reorganised more like in healthy skin. This can make the scar flatter, softer and more similar to the surrounding skin in both texture and colour. PRP's growth factors enhance the healing. For depressed scars it works much like for acne scars, the tissue is gradually filled from below.

Timing is important. A scar needs to be mature and stable, usually at least 6-12 months old, before we treat it. Fresh scars should first be allowed to heal completely. We are also honest that some scars, especially very wide or strongly raised ones (keloids), may need other or complementary methods, in which case we guide you on.

At a free consultation we assess your scar, type, age and location, and suggest whether microneedling and PRP are the right path.

01Can microneedling even out scars?
Yes. Microneedling stimulates the skin to reorganise the collagen more like in healthy skin, which can make the scar flatter, softer and more similar to the surrounding skin. PRP enhances the healing. Depressed scars are gradually filled from below.
02How long should I wait after surgery or injury?
The scar should be mature and stable, usually at least 6-12 months old, before we treat it. Fresh scars should first heal completely.
03Does it work on all types of scars?
Most atrophic (depressed) and some superficial scars respond well. Very wide or strongly raised scars (keloids) may need other methods, we are honest and guide you on if needed.
