Pigmentation and uneven skin tone

Sun spots and uneven pigmentation can be evened out with microneedling, which increases cell renewal and helps the skin look more even.

How it shows
  • Brown spots (sun/age spots)
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Marks after inflammation or acne (PIH)
  • Most visible on face, décolletage and hands
Common causes
  • Sun exposure over time
  • Hormonal factors (e.g. melasma)
  • Inflammation/acne (post-inflammatory pigmentation)
  • Ageing skin
Treatment with us
  • Microneedling (increases cell renewal)
  • PRP for skin
  • Sun protection is crucial
  • A series + skincare routine

Pigmentation and uneven skin tone are among the most common signs of sun-damaged and ageing skin. It can be sun spots and age spots, hormonally driven pigmentation (melasma) or dark marks left after acne and inflammation (so-called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation).

Microneedling can even out the skin tone by increasing cell renewal and helping the skin break down and distribute pigment more evenly, while new, healthier skin comes through. Combined with PRP and the right skincare, the result can be a considerably more even and fresher skin tone. For some types of pigmentation, especially melasma, a careful and individualised plan is required because the skin can react with more pigment if treated too aggressively.

One thing is absolutely crucial: sun protection. Without daily sun protection, pigmentation returns regardless of treatment, because UV light is the main driver. We always go through sun protection and skincare routine as part of the treatment plan.

At a free consultation we assess what type of pigmentation you have and whether microneedling is the right path, or whether you should see a dermatologist first, which we are honest about.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about pigmentation and uneven skin tone

Can microneedling remove pigmentation?

Microneedling can even out the skin tone and make spots less visible through increased cell renewal, ideally combined with PRP and the right skincare. Some types (e.g. melasma) require a careful, individualised plan.

Will the spots come back?

Without daily sun protection, yes, UV light is the main driver of pigmentation. Sun protection and a good skincare routine are crucial to maintain the result.

Should I see a dermatologist first?

Sometimes. With unclear or changing spots, or hard-to-treat melasma, a dermatologist assessment may be wise first. We are honest about when microneedling is the right path and when it is not.
