Results over a series
The effect builds gradually over several treatments and maintenance.
Stretch marks, or striae, form when the skin is stretched quickly, during pregnancy, a growth spurt, rapid weight gain or muscle building. The supporting fibres in the dermis then break and narrow streaks form. New striae are often red or purple (striae rubrae), while older ones become shiny and white (striae albae).
Microneedling is one of the most widely used treatments for striae. By creating controlled micro-channels, the skin's healing and new formation of collagen and elastin is triggered, which means the texture and colour of the striae can gradually even out towards the surrounding skin. PRP can be combined to enhance healing and the result.
An important and honest point: stretch marks can rarely be removed completely, but they can often be made considerably less visible. The effect is also best on newer, red striae, they respond better than old, white striae that have been there for many years, although improvement is possible there too. The result builds up over a series of treatments.
At a free consultation we assess your striae, how old they are and where they are, and give you a realistic plan.
